The Hyde Park Residence is a renovation of a historic Chicago home. The design introduces modern architectural elements to a traditional context, bridging the two in an exploration of craft, materiality and light.
As a family of five, the clients desired a spacious kitchen with greater functionality, ample storage and a space to gather. It was also important we consider the relationship between the dining and kitchen areas and their respective aesthetic qualities. The subsequent design embraces the existing character of the building whilst providing a modern, functional addition within their home.
